The idea
An everyday action, rethought.
Most lamps are switched on and left in a fixed position. This project asks what happens when activation, support, and light become one physical interaction.
The lamp illuminates as it is lifted. When aligned correctly, the central light body appears to float inside the curved frame, turning a familiar object into a small balancing ritual.

First place,
Make It Glow.
The finished project won first place in the Instructables Make It Glow contest hosted by Autodesk.
The complete build was documented for open-source distribution, including 3D-printing files, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
How it works
Mechanics, electronics, and form developed together.
Development
The lamp was developed through CAD modelling and SLA printing, which allowed me to refine the curved frame and the precise fit of its components. Each prototype helped me adjust the balance between magnetic force, weight, and alignment until the light body could be positioned by hand and remain suspended.
CAD, electrical wiring, and physical assembly were developed as one system so the final prototype could be rebuilt by other makers.
